Independent SEN consultancy dedicated to supporting children, families and schools to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Hi, I'm Kathryn
As an experienced SEN Consultant, I support families, children and professionals to secure positive, meaningful outcomes through connection, understanding and informed advocacy. With over 20 years’ experience in education, I bring both depth of expertise and a calm, compassionate approach to what can often feel like an overwhelming system.
My work is firmly grounded in a detailed understanding of SEND law and statutory frameworks, underpinned by recognised legal training. I guide families confidently through complex processes - from navigating EHCP pathways to understanding legal rights and local authority duties, ensuring you are informed, prepared and fully supported at every stage.
I know how exhausting the SEND journey can be; the paperwork, the meetings, the uncertainty. Many parents come to me feeling unheard, out of their depth, or simply drained. My role is to take that weight from your shoulders - to provide clarity, strategy and steady support so you can focus on being a parent, while I help you navigate the system with professionalism and care.
At the heart of my work is a deep belief that young people flourish when they feel safe, valued and understood. Every child is unique. I build support around their strengths, honouring their voice and individuality, while ensuring their legal entitlements are upheld.
All services are carefully tailored to your family’s needs. If you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for, please get in touch. I will always be honest about how I can help, and committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for your child.

EHC Needs Assessment Packages
EHC Needs Assessment – Starter Package
This package is designed to support families at the very beginning of the Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment process.
We’ll start with an online consultation to explore whether requesting an EHC Needs Assessment may be the right next step for your child and to discuss the outcomes you are hoping to achieve.
The consultation will provide an overview of how the assessment and decision-making process works, drawing on professional guidance including the SEND Code of Practice (2015). This will help you understand how evidence is considered during the process and how specialist professional input contributes to decision-making.
We will also discuss how families and schools can work together to support a child’s needs, helping you approach school conversations in a constructive and solution-focused way.
Following the consultation, you will receive a short written summary of key points discussed and initial considerations to help you move forward with confidence.
This service is designed to help you gain clarity about the next steps for your child and to identify whether further specialist support may be beneficial.
£125
Please note that this package is intended as an introductory advisory service and does not include form completion, detailed application preparation, or ongoing casework support.
EHC Needs Assessment – Full Package
This comprehensive support package is designed for families who are ready to begin the Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment application process with specialist guidance at every stage.
The focus of this service is to reduce stress, save time and help present a clear, evidence-informed application that reflects your child’s needs, strengths, and voice, helping you create the strongest possible basis for your request and maximise your opportunity to demonstrate your child’s needs.
What the package includes:
Understanding Your Child’s Profile
We will begin by discussing your child’s strengths, needs, and current support arrangements to establish the foundation of the application.
Application Preparation and Evidence Planning
You will receive follow-up guidance outlining the types of documentation and professional reports that may strengthen your application. Where appropriate, advice can be provided on gathering relevant information from education and health professionals.
Parental Contribution and Cover Letter Support
We will work together, either online or in person, to develop the parental contribution section of the application and draft a supporting cover letter to the Local Authority. This will focus on presenting your child’s needs, experiences and views in a clear, child-centred way.
Process and Timeline Guidance
You will also receive information about the 20-week assessment process, including key dates, expected timeframes and your rights throughout the procedure.
This service is designed to provide structured, specialist support during the application journey, helping you feel confident that your child’s case is presented as clearly and effectively as possible.

Quality Check Review - New EHC Plan
A Quality Check Review is a comprehensive review of your child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) once it has been received - whether in draft form or as a final issued plan - to ensure it is accurate, legally compliant, and truly reflects your child’s needs.
This specialist review service provides a detailed assessment of the EHCP against legal guidance and recognised good practice, with your child’s needs kept firmly at the centre throughout. The aim is to identify whether the plan is clear, specific, and practical, and whether it provides a strong and lawful foundation for your child’s support.
This service is ideal for families who want expert reassurance and professional insight before responding to a draft EHCP, or who wish to understand whether an issued plan is robust enough to secure the right provision.
The review includes a careful examination of the EHCP itself, alongside any relevant external agency advice, to identify any missing information, vague wording, inconsistencies or gaps in provision.
Particular attention will be given to the alignment between:
Section B – your child’s special educational needs
Section F – the special educational provision required to meet those needs
Section I – the named placement or type of placement
This is a crucial part of ensuring the EHCP is both legally sound and practically effective, especially where questions arise about whether the current wording is sufficient to secure the right support.
This service is particularly valuable where specialist provision may be under consideration, where the EHCP wording appears unclear or incomplete, or where parents need assurance that the plan will effectively support future decisions.

Preparing for an Annual Review
An Annual Review is the legal process used to evaluate your child’s Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), ensuring it continues to reflect their needs, progress and long-term educational goals.
This specialist preparation service helps you approach the review process with confidence, clarity, and a strong understanding of your child’s support arrangements. Guidance is provided in line with professional standards including the SEND Code of Practice (2015).
This service is ideal for families who want expert input to help ensure their child’s EHCP is working as effectively as possible. Whether preparing for a review meeting, considering future provision, or supporting discussions about ongoing educational support, this session will help you present your child’s needs and progress clearly and confidently.
If specialist provision is being considered, particular attention will be given to the alignment of EHCP Sections B (needs), F (provision) and I (placement) to help support a clear and practical description of your child’s support requirements.
The session will focus on helping you identify key discussion points, reflect on progress over the past year, and prepare effectively for your child’s review meeting.
You will finish the session feeling informed, confident, and ready to advocate for your child’s ongoing support.
£360
This package is designed to cover preparation and consultation support for the Annual Review process. If additional work is required, such as detailed document review, drafting of letters to Local Authorities, or specialist provision advocacy support, this will be discussed and agreed separately.
Home Support and Direct Work with Children
Supporting Communication and Independence at Home
This service focuses on helping to create home environments that support your child’s communication, interaction, play and independence skills. Play is an important way that children explore, learn and develop confidence, particularly for children with special educational needs, where additional structure, support or tailored opportunities may help promote engagement and development.
The approach is always tailored to your child’s individual strengths and needs, supporting structured but meaningful opportunities for development at home.
Option 1 - Online Session
A flexible, practical session designed to help you make small but meaningful changes to support your child’s communication and independence within everyday routines. This session takes place online. You can move around your home using a phone or tablet to show areas you would like support with.
Following the session, you will receive a short summary email with personalised suggestions and practical strategies you can begin using straight away.
This option is ideal for families who want professional input but are looking for simple, actionable steps to start making changes.
£150
Option 2 – Half Day In Person Home Support
A focused specialist in-home session designed to support communication, play and independence development in one or two priority areas. This session goes beyond advice by helping create practical, child-centred resources that can be used in everyday life. I will design and prepare personalised visual supports tailored to your child, which may include resources such as: 'I want' or choice boards featuring your child’s own image (particularly helpful for supporting communication for non-verbal children)
• Labelled storage systems to support independence and routine understanding
• Photographed and clearly marked activity or resource boxes to help your child locate and use items more easily
• Other simple, sustainable visual supports suited to your child’s needs
We will work together to organise and structure key home spaces to help create natural opportunities for communication, engagement, and independence within your family routine.
£500
Option 3 – Specialist SEN Home Environment Programme
This premium specialist programme is designed for families who want in-depth, structured support to create a home environment that actively promotes communication, play and independence for children with SEND.
We begin with a pre-visit online consultation to explore your child’s needs, your priorities, and your current routines. This allows the two in-home days to be carefully planned and strategically focused.
Over two full days in your home, I will work alongside you to implement practical, sustainable systems that embed communication and independence opportunities into everyday life.
This hands-on specialist support may include:
• Designing and organising key living, play, and learning spaces
• Creating personalised visual supports tailored specifically to your child
• Developing communication aids and independence resources
• Structuring storage, activity areas, and routine supports
• Sorting and preparing labelled or photographed resource systems
• Coaching you to confidently implement and maintain strategies long term
You will receive a written summary of recommendations to support consistency after the visit, along with one 30-minute follow-up call within 4–6 weeks to review progress and refine strategies where needed.
This programme is ideal for families seeking intensive, expert guidance to create meaningful, lasting change within the home environment.
